Slight Synchronicity?
I’d almost posted this in last night’s “Thoughts for Matt” – but didn’t:
I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love,
For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.
- East Coker
I decided to put this up when I saw the parallel between Eliot’s thought and the Scripture Mrs. Wheeler quoted in her post this morning:
“…hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.” Romans 8:24-25
I’m trying to sit still with the synchronicity. And I’m looking forward to studying this verse more deeply!
It goes without saying, that I’m thinking often of Matt and his family today, and his Unit too: “Thoughts and prayers,” CPT G.
